Knotless box braids have been the braided look lately. But this year marks the return of the micro braid. Notably, Beyoncé rocked the style for her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter tour announcement and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba wore micro braids in 2024’s Wicked. But the technique has been all the rage since the early aughts, and the It Girls have been wearing micro braids to red carpets, sitting courtside, and posing for photoshoots for years (Queen Bey included!). 


“They tend to last longer than some protective styles, but that comes with a responsibility to care for them properly,” adds Stacey Ciceron, hairstylist and Oribe Ambassador. “Keep your scalp moisturized, avoid excessive tension, and don’t push the install past its lifespan.
